BCBSNC Updates

The following are the most recent updates and important notices from BCBSNC:

Release Dates: September 10 and 11, 2015

Important Updates and Reminders:

  • Are you considering if telehealth might be right for your practice and patients?  If so, you may be interested in reading a feature about Video Consults and Provider Workflow in the current digital issue of ExecutiveInsight.  The article is written by the senior vice president of products at TouchCare, which is a Durham-based company that offers an app for video consults.  BCBSNC members can download the app for free an ask their personal physicians to join.  Providers considering telehealth services should review BCBSNC’s Corporate Reimbursement Policy for Telehealth prior to offering telehealth services to their BCBSNC patients.
  • Reminder:  As with any services for BCBSNC members, please remember that in-network labs must be used for BRCA genetic testing.  Not doing so puts our members in the middle, results in higher out-of-pocket costs for them, and could result in termination from our networks as a participating BCBSNC provider.  Please refer to your provider agreement with BCBSNC re your contractual obligations to use in-network providers and labs on behalf of your BCBSNC patients.  This is a good opportunity to remind providers that BCBSNC implemented an out-of-network lab fee schedule on July 15.
  • Did you know these articles are posted online on the Important News page of our provider Web portal at www.bcbsnc.com/providers?  Please visit the news page and scan through recent and past articles at your convenience.
