North Carolina Medical Group Management Association (NCMGMA) came together last week in Asheville, October 6-8, 2021, for our annual Fall Conference. This year’s conference took over the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, where 150+ attendees, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors enjoyed continuing education from some of the nation’s best thought leaders, participated in in-person networking on site and at Highland Brewing Company, and experienced the sold out exhibit hall full of products and services driving healthcare management to new levels.
Thank you to everyone who pulled away from their busy practices to join us. Thank you to all of our speakers and exhibitors for sharing your knowledge and expertise, and thank you to our sponsors for your continued support of our organization: we couldn’t do it without you. And, lastly, thank you to our volunteers for leading the organization and keeping us moving in the right direction: your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.
Please browse this post to see all that took place last week and to see what’s in store for NCMGMA, through the end of 2021 and beyond.
50th Anniversary
NCMGMA was founded in 1971, out of a need to provide North Carolina’s professional administrator with a rich source of information and contacts for professional growth. Fifty years later, we’re still going strong and continuing to serve executives and managers of private group practices, academic medical centers, integrated delivery systems, and companies that support medical provider organizations in North Carolina.
This summer, we interviewed some of our association’s past presidents, asking them to share their thoughts on leadership and NCMGMA. Click here and on the image below to see what they had to say.
Practice of the Year Award
Each year, NCMGMA and First Citizens Bank recognize a medical group practice that has made a significant contribution to their community, patients and/or staff. For our 8th annual award, we are proud to recognize StarMed Healthcare as our Practice of the Year! The award also includes a $3000 donation to the winner’s foundation of choice. StarMed selected Foundation of the Carolinas as their designated foundation. Congratulations StarMed!
President’s Award
The President’s Award is given to a member of NCMGMA for outstanding service and contribution to the association, its members and medical practice management. This year’s award was presented to Doral Jacobsen, MBA, FACMPE, partner with Prosper Beyond LLC. Doral has been a strong supporter of NCMGMA, the Chair of our Payer Contracting Committee, and veteran speaker for our annual and virtual events.
(L-R): Doral Jacobsen and 2020-21 NCMGMA President Amanda McKinney
Community Service Project
NCMGMA staff, volunteers and conference attendees gathered on Thursday, October 7th to prepare meal bags for the Brenner Children’s Inpatient Food Pantry, a new project serving patients and their families. All admitted patients to the pediatric acute care floor are screened for food insecurity and if screened positive, receive daily access to their food pantry which provides meals and snacks to parents while their children are admitted. The service project packed around 84 meal bags for Brenner Children’s Hospital.
