President’s Message

Dear NCMGMA Members,

Jacob Rodman, 2014-16 NCMGMA President

As I think about our association, I’d like to say what an honor it has been to have had the opportunity to serve as your president for the last two years. Those leaders who have served before have cleared a great path for our current board to lead our organization with confidence.

Throughout my presidency and through our Leadership Council’s strategic planning, our goal to partner with other like-minded organizations was key.  This year we partnered with NCHFMA on our inaugural Roadshows; with NCHA to begin branding NCMGMA to a new potential membership focus; and with NCMS on the inaugural Merging Medicine & Management (M3) Conference.

The goal of the M3 conference was for the two organizations to collaborate and host a conference where administrators, managers, physicians, PAs, and students could come together, learn from one another, and attend sessions that put the focus on the practice and those leading it. With over 290 attendees and 46 exhibitors over the course of three days at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro (September 15-18), this was a true success.  Thank you to everyone who supported this fantastic inaugural event.

Additionally, we congratulate the recipients of our 2016 annual awards.  The NCMGMA/Medical Mutual Administrator of the Year Award was presented to Michelle Wallace, CMPE, of Gastroenterology Association of the Piedmont, and our President’s Award was presented to Fran Sembert, CMPE, of Wendover OBGYN & Infertility.  Both awards were presented at the M3 Conference.

Recently, NCMGMA lost Kim Harrah, a beloved NCMGMA member and board member, when she lost her battle with cancer. We remember Kim’s vibrant spirit and true dedication to anything she put her energy toward. NCMGMA announced the Kim Harrah Becker Volunteer Award at the M3 Conference and the 2016 Recipient, Cam Cox, III, was announced during the dinner portion of the Saturday night activities. This award highlights the true spirit of volunteerism for NCMGMA and in its inaugural year, we are proud to present it to a member who has embodied the spirit of what this award is and who it honors. Kim’s presence will be forever missed.

My term officially ended on October 31st and the ever-amazing Melissa White took over as President on 11/1. If you have any questions, suggestions, comments, praise, or would just like to talk, I am always available for my NCMGMA connections. Thank you for allowing me to serve you and our organization; it has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life.

Jacob Rodman
2014-2016 NCMGMA President
