The Administrator of the Year award honors a medical practice administrator who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and management proficiency, and who has helped enhance the effectiveness of health care delivery in North Carolina. Sponsored by Medical Mutual Insurance Company, the Administrator of the Year Award also provides the recipient with a stipend for continuing education at a state or national Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) meeting.

Ms. Wallace, has been in healthcare since 1988 and worked her way up from accounts receivable to her current role as Practice Administrator. GAP is a result of the merger of two of the largest gastroenterology specialty practices in Winston-Salem, and Michelle recently worked as a key member of a team of five managers to guide the practice through an arduous and brief three-month timeframe.

Michelle is a long-time member of the NCMGMA and is a dedicated member of the local Winston-Salem Medical Group Managers Chapter, serving as President in 2014-15 after earning her Certified Medical Professional Executive (CMPE) designation in 2012.

Approximately 300 people were in attendance at the M3 Conference in Greensboro this past weekend. This year’s conference featured an interactive exhibit hall and a new format designed to increase interactivity between physicians and practice administrators.
